Eunice means, “conquering well,” along with her mother Lois, they conquered opposition from the Gentile and Jewish worlds and raised Timothy to be as his name reveals “one who fears God.” These two godly women had trained him up in the way he should go (Proverbs 22:6).
Paul’s reference to the unwavering faith which first dwelt in Timothy’s grandmother, Lois, then in his mother, Eunice, and then in himself also. The outcome of their faith was clearly a ‘generational blessing’ upon Timothy.
God promises blessing upon our descendants; “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations” Deut 7:9
I know and I feel it, when people ask; ‘why are my children and their children not walking with the Lord?’
‘I really don’t know’ is my answer to that question. When I don’t know the answer, I try by faith to cling to what I do know, God promises ‘generational blessing’ and whether I see it in my lifetime or not, God promises “blessing.” Heb 11:13.
1. How do you as Heb 11:13 teaches, welcome blessing?
2. Eunice and Lois were God’s instruments in passing on blessing, how do you pass on blessing?
